What is Tarot?

Like many forms of divination, Tarot cards are a tool to help you tap into your own intuition and the wisdom of the universal energy that guides your life. Tarot, which has origins in 14th century Europe, is not a form of fortune telling. It's more like a mirror that reflects what is happening in your life at the moment. Tarot is able to tap into hidden thoughts, feelings and truths and bring them to the surface so you can use that information to make decisions about life, love, emotions, health, career and more.

The types of readings I do are not simply concerned with predicting what's going to happen to you over the next few days or weeks. Although I can do this kind of reading, and I've always been reasonably successful at it, I don't think this is a particularly productive use of the Tarot.

What's Popular in Tarot Cards

First developed in the 14th century, tarot cards were used to play games. It wasn't until the 18th century that they began to be used for divination purposes and the early 20th century that they became popular in the United States.

Though it is widely believed that tarot are the only decks that exist, oracle decks are used, too.

Readings can be open (focused on a specific area of life such as love, life, career, etc.) or question (providing insight to a specific question asked).

Everyday practice accompanied by a good deck will help you move from beginner to pro.
